Torrey's story

My name is Torrey Alan Wilson. I am blind and I have Aspergers syndrome.

In case you don’t know, Aspergers is a form of high functioning autism. I was born premature, about a pound and a half, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. There were complications resulting in my blindness. 

 Since I was 5 years old, I got my first radio and fell in love with radio.

 Since that time, I have always wanted to be on the radio as a DJ. I lived in the Philadelphia area for 10 years before moving to Spartanburg, South Carolina. Around 14 years old, I started doing radio shows in the garage for the neighborhood kids.

.In 2007, I discovered internet radio and learned that there were radio stations with actual DJ’s and jingles. When I got my first IPod Touch with Voiceover in 2011, I discovered I could have internet radio wherever I went. I was HOOKED!

It was so easy to listen to internet radio and all it’s technology and it was changing rapidly.  I wanted to be part of that culture. My greatest desire was to have my own internet radio station.

Back in 2017, that dream became a reality for me. I started training on how to get set up with my own online station and NOW….Here I am
.My DREAM HAS COME TRUE. I am finally on the air producing shows for thousands around Spartanburg, South Carolina and perhaps even across the Country!
